How does blockchain affect the traditional finance industry?

Blockchain technology significantly disrupts the traditional finance industry by offering a decentralized and transparent alternative to centralized banking systems. It enables faster, more secure, and cost-effective transactions without relying on intermediaries like banks. This can reduce settlement times from days to minutes, lower transaction fees, and increase accessibility to financial services for the unbanked. Blockchain also improves auditability and reduces fraud through immutable transaction records. Smart contracts allow for automated, self-executing agreements, reducing the need for manual processing and legal oversight. However, the integration of blockchain into traditional finance is still evolving, facing resistance from legacy institutions, regulatory uncertainty, and technical scalability challenges. Still, its potential to reshape banking, lending, payments, and asset management is widely recognized.
