How Does Cryptocurrency Work?

Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual form of currency that uses cryptography for secure transactions. Unlike traditional currencies, it operates on decentralized networks based on blockchain technology. A blockchain is a distributed ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers, ensuring transparency and preventing fraud. When you buy or sell cryptocurrency, the transaction is verified by a network of computers (called nodes) through a process known as mining or staking, depending on the cryptocurrency. This process ensures the legitimacy of the transaction and adds it to the blockchain. Cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many others, are not controlled by any central authority, like a government or bank. Instead, they are maintained by a community of users. Cryptocurrencies can be used for a wide range of activities, including online purchases, investments, and transferring money across borders quickly and with lower fees compared to traditional methods.
