What is SIP in mutual funds?

Systematic Investment Plan, commonly known as SIP, is a method of investing in mutual funds where investors contribute a fixed amount at regular intervals, usually monthly or quarterly. Instead of investing a lump sum, SIP allows individuals to build wealth gradually while managing market volatility. Through SIP, investors benefit from rupee cost averaging, where they buy more units when prices are low and fewer when prices are high, balancing overall returns over time. Additionally, SIP encourages financial discipline and makes investing affordable by starting with small amounts. It is a popular choice for long-term goals like retirement, children’s education, or wealth creation, as it combines the benefits of compounding returns with consistent and structured investment habits.
