Why is DeFi risky for investors?

Decentralized finance, or DeFi, offers financial services without traditional intermediaries like banks, using smart contracts on blockchain networks. While it provides benefits such as high returns, accessibility, and transparency, it also carries significant risks. Smart contracts may contain coding errors or vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit, leading to loss of funds. Since DeFi platforms often lack regulation, investors have limited protection or legal recourse if something goes wrong. Market volatility can also cause rapid losses, especially with complex products like liquidity pools or leveraged tokens. Additionally, scams, rug pulls, and platform failures are common, as anyone can launch a DeFi project. Due diligence and a strong understanding of the technology are crucial for anyone investing in DeFi.
