Adani Green Commissions World's Largest Single-Location BESS (3.37 GWh) at Khavda
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has commissioned the world's largest single-location Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 3.37 GWh at Khavda, Gujarat, alongside a 50 MW solar project. The BESS was deployed in a record 10 months, with 1.37 GWh operationalized in March 2026 and the remaining 2 GWh completed by May 2026. Key Highlights: Scale: 3.37 GWh BESS can power ~1 million homes for a full day; largest such facility globally outside China. Structure: Executed via multiple SPVs — Adani Renewable Energy Thirty Six (642 MWh), Thirty Seven (1,042 MWh), and Forty Three (306 MWh). Updated Capacity: AGEL's total operational renewable generation now stands at 19,785.8 MW; BESS capacity at 3,366 MWh. Technology: Advanced lithium-ion batteries with intelligent energy management for grid stabilization and peak-shaving. Strategic Significance: Grid Reliability: Enables dispatchable renewable power, addressing intermittency and supporting India's clean energy transition. Execution Leadership: Record deployment timeline underscores AGEL's project management capabilities at scale. Policy Alignment: Supports national goals for renewable integration and energy security under Panchamrit commitments. Future Roadmap: AGEL targets >10 GWh BESS capacity in FY27 and 50 GWh within five years, positioning storage as a core growth pillar alongside its 45 GW renewable target by 2030. $ADANIGREEN
