Ambuja Cements Posts Record Q2 Performance with 20% Volume Growth and 364% PAT Jump

Ambuja Cements reported a stellar Q2 performance, achieving its highest-ever quarterly sales volume of 16.6 million tons—up 20% YoY, far outpacing the industry’s 4% growth. Revenue rose 21% to ₹9,174 crore, while EBITDA surged 58% to ₹1,761 crore, with EBITDA per ton up 32% to ₹1,060. The company’s Profit After Tax jumped 364% to ₹2,302 crore, aided by a one-time tax write-back of ₹1,697 crore. Strong profitability was driven by cost optimization, including a ₹238/ton reduction in production costs, thanks to lower kiln fuel prices (₹1.65/kcal). Capacity has been expanded to 107 million tons, with debottlenecking plans to add 15 million tons at low capex (₹48/ton), raising the long-term target to 155 million tons. Premium cement now accounts for 35% of trade sales, with volumes growing 28%, reflecting successful brand positioning. Looking ahead, CEO Vinod Bahety outlined targets: double-digit volume growth, ₹1,500/ton EBITDA, and reducing total cost to ₹3,650/ton. The company is also increasing focus on digitalization and AI to boost efficiency. With strong execution, cost leadership, and strategic expansion, Ambuja Cements is well-positioned for sustained market outperformance.
