Apollo Micro Systems, IIT-Chennai & Indian Navy Partner for Indigenous Defence Tech

Apollo Micro Systems Limited (AMS) has forged a strategic tri-party alliance with IIT-Chennai and the Indian Navy’s Directorate General of Naval Armament Inspection (DGNAI) to accelerate the development of indigenous defence technologies. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Swavalamban 2025, an event presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, highlighting national focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence. The partnership will focus on co-developing advanced systems in Electronic Warfare, precision guidance & control, and high-energy armament solutions, aiming to reduce India’s dependence on foreign defence imports. By combining IIT-Chennai’s R&D strength, AMS’s industrial manufacturing capabilities, and the Navy’s operational expertise, this MoU exemplifies a powerful academia-industry-military synergy. The initiative is set to boost innovation, enhance self-reliance under the Make in India mission, and strengthen India’s position as a future hub for cutting-edge defence technology development. It may also serve as a model for similar collaborations across the sector.
