Ashok Leyland Expands into Qatar via Tie-up with Al-Futtaim’s FAMCO
Ashok Leyland has strengthened its international footprint by partnering with FAMCO Qatar, a unit of UAE-based Al-Futtaim Group, to expand its commercial vehicle business in Qatar. This move follows last year’s successful entry into Saudi Arabia through FAMCO KSA.
Under the partnership, Ashok Leyland will introduce its full range of vehicles—including the Falcon and Oyster buses and Boss and Partner light/medium trucks—alongside its new electric bus, tailored to local demand. The collaboration leverages Al-Futtaim’s strong regional network to ensure robust after-sales and fleet support.
The expansion underscores Ashok Leyland’s growing presence in the Middle East, targeting sectors such as logistics, public transport, SMEs, and infrastructure. Vehicles are engineered for durability, fuel efficiency, and low total cost of ownership.
Rajesh R, Head of International Operations, highlighted the company’s commitment to shaping sustainable mobility in the region, while Al-Futtaim’s Ramez Hamdan emphasized the shared vision for a connected, sustainable future in Qatar.
This strategic push reinforces Ashok Leyland’s global ambitions and leadership in emerging markets.
