Azad India Mobility Leases Bengaluru Facility to Enter Electric Bus Manufacturing
Azad India Mobility Limited has entered a 5-year lease agreement with Azad Coach Builders Private Limited to set up an electric bus manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, marking its strategic entry into India’s green mobility sector. The facility, located on Mysore Road, spans 8,094 sqm and will support the production of fully functional electric buses, with an annual capacity of up to 1,500 units.
The lease, effective from October 1, 2025, involves a monthly rent of ₹25.5 lakh (with 5% annual escalation) for land, plant, and machinery. The company gains full operational control and rights to infrastructure upgrades, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Though a related-party transaction—as both firms share directors—the company asserts it is at arm’s length. This move underscores Azad India Mobility’s commitment to sustainable public transport and positions it to tap into rising demand for e-buses under government-led electrification initiatives. The expansion reflects growing confidence in India’s EV ecosystem and could accelerate the company’s market footprint.
