Berger Paints Commissions Paint Facility in Hindupur
Berger Paints India Limited has commenced commercial production at its new, fully automated solvent-based paint facility in Hindupur, Andhra Pradesh, as of September 9, 2026.
Key Highlights:
Capacity & Investment: The ₹188 crore capital expenditure adds 36,000 KL/MT per annum of solvent-based paint manufacturing capacity.
Integrated Ecosystem: This new line complements the ₹78 crore automated resin manufacturing plant (12,000 MTPA) commissioned at the same location in February 2026, creating a highly integrated, self-sustaining production hub.
Strong Financial Backdrop: The expansion follows a robust Q1 FY27, where consolidated net profit grew 28.6% YoY to ₹405 crore.
Strategic Rationale:
Margin Optimization: Full automation is designed to lower conversion costs, improve product yield, and mitigate raw material conversion losses, directly supporting profitability.
Localized Supply Chain: Expanding the Hindupur footprint strengthens Berger’s ability to efficiently serve high-demand South Indian markets and regional export channels, significantly reducing long-distance freight charges.
Market Outlook:
This capacity addition is a tactical move to solidify Berger Paints' position as India’s second-largest paint manufacturer. As new competitors (like Birla Opus) aggressively scale their market entry, localized distribution and automated cost efficiency will be critical battlegrounds. This facility ensures Berger remains well-equipped to defend its market share and protect margins amidst raw material price volatility.
