CESC Signs 600 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid PPAs at ~₹3.75/kWh

CESC Limited has executed 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to procure 600 MW of electricity from grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects, reinforcing its renewable energy transition and long-term power security. The capacity is sourced from four developers at competitive tariffs discovered through bidding: Purvah Green Power Pvt Ltd (CESC subsidiary): 300 MW @ ₹3.75/kWh Vismaya Renewables: 100 MW @ ₹3.74/kWh Hexa Climate Solutions: 100 MW @ ₹3.75/kWh Sprng Energy: 100 MW @ ₹3.75/kWh Wind-solar hybrid projects offer more stable generation by leveraging complementary wind and solar profiles, reducing intermittency and improving grid reliability. The inclusion of CESC's own subsidiary, Purvah Green Power, for half the capacity underscores the company's strategy to scale internal renewable assets while securing cost-effective external supply. With tariffs averaging ~₹3.75/kWh, the deals are economically viable and shield CESC from fossil fuel price volatility. The 25-year tenure ensures predictable power costs and supports the company's commitment to decarbonisation. This move aligns with India's clean energy goals and CESC's target to increase its green portfolio. By locking in long-term hybrid supply at competitive rates, CESC strengthens its position as a sustainable utility while delivering value to consumers and shareholders.
