DMart Reaches 500 Stores Milestone, Shares Jump on Expansion Momentum

Avenue Supermarts, operator of DMart, has crossed a major expansion milestone with its store count reaching 500, after opening 12 new outlets across cities including Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Lucknow, and Faridabad. This rapid rollout strengthens DMart’s presence in both metro and tier-II markets, enhancing its national footprint. The expansion follows the addition of 27 stores in the first nine months of FY26, indicating an accelerated pace of growth. The company had reported 442 stores as of Q3FY26, meaning it has added 58 stores since then — underscoring strong execution capability. Investor confidence was evident as shares surged 7.01% in early trade following the announcement. The store network now spans diverse geographies, enabling deeper customer reach and improved economies of scale. In Q3FY26, DMart posted 18.27% YoY growth in net profit to ₹855.78 crore on 13.32% higher revenue at ₹18,100.88 crore, with PAT margin improving to 4.7% from 4.5%. Rising store density is driving top-line growth while maintaining cost discipline. Reaching 500 stores reflects DMart’s scalable business model and robust operational efficiency. With expanded retail capacity, the company is well-positioned to capture growing consumer spending, increase market share, and deliver sustained profitability in India’s competitive retail landscape.
