GE Vernova T&D India Wins ₹1,500 Crore HVDC Contract for Khavda Renewable Power Evacuation
GE Vernova T&D India Limited has secured a major contract from AESL Projects Limited to design and build a 2,500 MW, 500 kV HVDC Voltage Source Converter (VSC) Terminal Station for evacuating renewable power from Khavda (KPS3) to South Olpad in Gujarat. The project involves a 2x1,250 MW configuration, ensuring reliability and scalability in power transmission.
This high-voltage direct current (HVDC) system is critical for efficiently transmitting large volumes of solar and wind energy over long distances with minimal losses—key to integrating massive renewable capacity from the sun-rich Khavda region into the national grid.
The multi-year execution timeline reflects the technical complexity of setting up advanced VSC-based infrastructure, including design, supply, and commissioning.
Notified under SEBI LODR, the contract is at arm’s length with no related-party involvement. It reinforces GE Vernova’s leadership in India’s clean energy transition and strengthens its role in building next-generation transmission infrastructure essential for achieving the country’s renewable energy targets.
