Glenmark’s Global Licensing Deal with AbbVie

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with AbbVie for its investigational oncology and autoimmune asset, ISB 2001. The compound is currently in Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Under the deal, AbbVie gains exclusive rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialise ISB 2001 in key markets including North America, Europe, Japan, and China. Glenmark retains rights for development and commercialisation in emerging markets across Asia, Latin America, Africa, and other regions. The agreement includes an upfront payment of $700 million to Glenmark’s subsidiary, IGI Therapeutics, with potential milestone payments of up to $1.225 billion and tiered double-digit royalties on net sales. ISB 2001 has already received Orphan Drug and Fast-Track designations from the US FDA, underscoring its therapeutic potential. This strategic move strengthens Glenmark’s innovation pipeline and provides significant financial upside, while enabling broader global access to a promising new treatment for difficult-to-treat cancers.
