HAL Secures ISRO's SSLV Project, BEL Bags Major Orders Amid Rising Defence Expenditure

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

HAL
has been selected as the successful bidder for the manufacturing and technology design of ISRO’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), marking a major boost to India’s indigenous aerospace capabilities. The project includes a comprehensive technology transfer package covering design, manufacturing, quality control, launch operations, and post-flight analysis. HAL will now be responsible for mass production of SSLVs to meet both domestic and international demand, reinforcing India’s position in the global small satellite launch market. In parallel, Bharat Electronics Limited
BEL
reported securing additional orders worth ₹585 crore since June 5, including contracts for fire control systems, jammers, and communication equipment, further strengthening its role in India’s defence ecosystem. With India planning to increase its defence expenditure and accelerate self-reliance under the 'Make in India' initiative, these developments are timely. Recently, the government also approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project. France-based Sarfan Engineering signed MoU for Technology Transfer (ToT) for Sarfan’s M88 engine is expected to support India’s future fighter jet programmes. These moves highlight the growing momentum in India’s strategic sector, driven by rising budget allocations and international partnerships. Defence is the new king and can give the CAGRs all want in their portfolios.
