IndusInd Bank’s New CEO Appointment
IndusInd Bank has appointed veteran banker Rajiv Anand as its new CEO, effective August 25, 2025, ending a four-month leadership vacuum following the resignation of former CEO Sumant Kathpalia amid a ₹1,960-crore derivatives accounting scandal. The RBI approved the appointment after a rigorous selection process that included candidates like Rahul Shukla and Anup Saha.
Anand, 59, retired as Deputy Managing Director of Axis Bank, bringing over 35 years of experience in retail, wholesale banking, and asset management. His appointment signals a decisive step toward restoring credibility, strengthening risk controls, and rebuilding investor confidence.
The bank, currently under regulatory scrutiny, had been managed by an interim committee since April. With tightened governance and a renewed focus on transparency, experts believe the stock could gradually recover. Market analysts view the current phase as a potential entry point for long-term investors, with growth prospects expected to stabilize once reforms take hold.
