Jana Small Finance Bank Eyes Growth, Focus on Secured Lending and Universal Banking

Jana Small Finance Bank (

JSFB
) is targeting 20% growth in both loans and deposits for FY26, with the secured loan book expected to drive expansion. The bank has reduced deposit rates for certain tenures and anticipates a moderation in net interest margins by 20–30 bps. CEO Ajay Kanwal noted that cost of funds could decline by 10–25 bps in the coming fiscal year. The bank is actively working to reduce its unsecured loan exposure from 30% to 20% over the next two to three years. It plans to fully cover its microfinance portfolio under credit guarantee schemes by year-end, reflecting ongoing stress in the sector and a shift toward more stable lending models. With advances at ₹29,545 crore and deposits at ₹29,120 crore as of March 2025, Jana SFB reported a net profit of ₹501 crore in FY25 and aims for 25–30% profit growth ahead. The bank recently applied for a universal banking license and is preparing for rebranding and product expansion, particularly in the MSME segment. It also received an AD-1 license for forex operations and is setting up systems for international trade through UPI-based credit lines, expected to launch this financial year.
