JBM Auto Emerges as India’s Largest E-Bus Maker, Aims for 25%+ Market Share
JBM Auto has emerged as India’s largest electric bus manufacturer in FY26, capturing over 25% market share, driven by strong government tenders and rising adoption across public transport and schools. The company is on track to meet its FY26 revenue guidance of ₹6,000–6,500 crore, with EVs already contributing 40% of revenue — expected to rise to 50% soon.
Backed by a robust order book of 10,000 e-buses and an annual manufacturing capacity of 20,000 units — the largest outside China — JBM attributes its leadership to a fully integrated EV ecosystem. It controls key technologies in-house, including battery systems (6 GWh facility), BMS, VCU, power electronics, and telematics, ensuring performance, safety, and customization.
While e-bus penetration remains at ~4.5%, JBM sees it reaching double digits in the next few years, supported by schemes like PM-eBus Sewa and E-DRIVE, which aim to deploy over 24,000 e-buses. On total cost of ownership, e-buses are already economical — operating at ₹10/km vs ₹45/km for diesel.
JBM is also expanding internationally, with presence in Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. With scalable solutions and deep R&D, it aims to sustain its leadership and drive India’s transition to clean mobility.
