Jubilant FoodWorks Gains on Reports of Potential GST Waiver on Pizza Bread
Shares of Jubilant FoodWorks, the master franchisee of Domino’s Pizza in India, rose on Monday following reports of a potential GST waiver on pizza bread. The news, first reported by CNBC Awaaz, sparked investor optimism, as such a move could lower input costs and improve margins for the company, which operates over 1,800 outlets nationwide.
While the government has not yet confirmed the waiver, the market reacted positively, reflecting expectations of improved profitability and potential pricing flexibility for consumers.
In parallel, the company recently concluded a postal ballot (September 2–October 1) to seek shareholder approval on key matters, with results awaited.
If implemented, the GST relief could set a precedent for the broader quick-service restaurant (QSR) sector, influencing tax treatment and pricing strategies for staple food items. However, until official confirmation is received, the development remains speculative. Investors await clarity from tax authorities and the company on the matter.
