Jupiter Wagons Partners with Lucchini RS to Build India’s First Integrated Private Railwheel Platform

Jupiter Wagons Limited announced a strategic partnership with Italy’s Lucchini RS Holding S.p.A. to establish India’s first fully integrated private-sector railwheel manufacturing platform. The collaboration will produce railway wheels, axles, and wheelsets across the entire value chain. Key Deal Highlights: Investment & Valuation: Lucchini RS & SIMEST S.p.A. (an Italian government financial institute) are investing a combined €28 million for a 25% stake in Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Private Limited (JTRWF). Ownership Split: Lucchini RS acquires a 15% stake (as the technology and engineering partner), while SIMEST acquires 10%. This implies a post-money valuation of approximately €112 million for JTRWF. Operational Footprint: The platform will integrate JTRWF’s existing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajanagar (machining and wheelset assembly) with a new greenfield manufacturing complex in Odisha.
