Jupiter Wagons’ Subsidiary Bags ₹215 Crore LoI for Vande Bharat Wheelsets; Eyes 20% Export Share in Energy Storage
Jupiter Wagons Ltd announced that its unlisted subsidiary, Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Pvt Ltd, has secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) worth ₹215 crore for the supply of 5,376 wheelsets for Vande Bharat trains. The order highlights the company’s growing role in India’s flagship semi-high-speed rail project and strengthens its position in the domestic rail component manufacturing space.
The freight wagon maker is also aggressively expanding into the battery energy storage (BES) sector. Managing Director Vivek Lohia revealed that the company aims for 20% of its BES output to be exported by 2030, with current exports already underway to North America and potential tie-ups in Europe. Notably, Siemens is sourcing from Jupiter for both Indian and global operations.
Jupiter operates BES facilities in Indore and Bangalore, having invested ₹150 crore over the past two years, with another ₹100–150 crore planned in the next 2–3 years. The dual focus on rail infrastructure and clean energy underscores Jupiter Wagons’ strategic diversification and alignment with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and green energy goals.
