Paytm Files Insolvency Petition Against WinZO Over ₹3.6 Crore Dues
One 97 Communications (Paytm) has filed an insolvency petition against gaming platform WinZO at the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) over unpaid advertising dues of ₹3.6 crore. The dispute relates to four invoices for promoting WinZO’s real-money gaming products—poker and rummy—on the Paytm app, with a standard 60-day payment term.
Despite a demand notice issued on October 1, no payment was made. Paytm argues that prior invoices were settled without issue, calling the current delay indefinite. WinZO, however, claims the invoices are pending internal review and require email validation as per purchase order terms.
The NCLT has given WinZO two weeks to respond, with the next hearing scheduled for December 15.
The case highlights rising tensions in digital ecosystem partnerships, especially between fintech and online gaming firms. As India’s digital economy grows, this dispute underscores the need for clear contractual terms and timely resolution of commercial conflicts. The outcome could set precedents for how advertising dues are enforced across digital platforms.
