Ramco Cements Shares Rise on Quartzite Mining Approval; Completes ₹515 Crore Asset Sale
Ramco Cements witnessed a strong market response, on January 6, 2026, following Andhra Pradesh government approval to extract quartzite minerals from its limestone mining lease in Kalavataka and Kotapadu villages (Nandyal District). The approval, valid until March 10, 2053, will support the company’s raw material security for manufacturing sand and pozzolanic additives, enhancing self-reliance and potentially reducing input costs.
The stock traded as high as ₹1,094.20, with 2.1 lakh shares changing hands, valued at ₹22.77 crore—over 50% deliverable, indicating strong investor confidence.
This development comes shortly after the company successfully completed the sale of non-core land assets to Prestige Estates Projects Limited for ₹514.90 crore on December 22, 2025. With this transaction, Ramco Cements has exceeded its asset monetization target, achieving total disposals of ₹1,016.92 crore against a goal of ₹1,000 crore.
Proceeds are being used to reduce debt, while the company plans to divest an additional ₹200 crore worth of assets by February 28, 2026.
These moves reflect a disciplined strategy of portfolio optimization, financial strengthening, and vertical integration, positioning Ramco Cements for sustainable growth amid tightening competition in the cement sector.
