Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has been declared the Lowest Bidder (L1) by the South East Central Railway (SECR) for a ₹221.33 crore infrastructure modernization contract in the Bilaspur Division. Project Scope: Core Work: Replacement of legacy panel interlocking systems with Electronic Interlocking (EI) across 15 stations, including BSPR, KLPG, ABKP, CHRM, and KBS. Infrastructure: Installation of indoor/outdoor signaling gears, OFC huts, and electrification of S&T service buildings. Model: Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC); domestic order. Execution Timeline: Duration: 730 days (~2 years) from work order issuance. Strategic Significance: Safety & Efficiency: Electronic Interlocking enhances train movement safety, reduces human error, and supports higher line capacity — aligning with Indian Railways' Kavach and signaling modernization goals. Order Book Visibility: Adds meaningful value to RVNL's railway infrastructure pipeline, reinforcing its role as a key execution partner for SECR. Technical Expertise: Demonstrates RVNL's capability in complex signaling and electrification projects, strengthening its positioning for similar modernization tenders nationally. Outlook: Upon formal work order award, RVNL is expected to mobilize resources for phased execution across the 15 stations. Successful delivery could enhance its track record for large-scale signaling upgrades, supporting bids on future railway digitalization projects under the Rashtriya Rail Sanraksha Kosh and Gati Shakti initiatives.
