SBI Cards Introduces New Fees on Education and Wallet Transactions from November 1
SBI Cards has announced key changes to its fee structure effective November 1, 2025, including a 1% charge on education payments made via third-party apps, while transactions directly with institutions (websites or POS) remain fee-free. A 1% fee will also apply to wallet reloads exceeding ₹1,000, targeting frequent digital wallet users.
Despite these new charges, SBI Cards continues its reward program for purchases on Ajio and JioMart, offering 20 reward points per ₹100 for Reliance SBI Card PRIME holders and 10 points for other SBI card users—highlighting its strategic tie-up with Reliance Retail.
Additionally, all Customer Protection Plan (CPP) subscribers were migrated to updated variants from September 16, with revised features and pricing.
The move reflects SBI Cards’ strategy to rationalize costs on high-volume transaction categories while retaining customer engagement through targeted rewards. Users are advised to adjust their spending behavior to minimize fees and maximize benefits.
