SJVN Commissions 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar
SJVN Limited, through its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has successfully achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its 75 MW Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar. Key Project Highlights: Capacity & Investment: A 75 MW solar plant developed over ~300 acres with a project cost of ₹1,342 crore. Power Generation: Expected to generate approximately 90 million units (MU) annually, totaling ~3,522 MU over its 25-year operational lifespan. Tariff & Offtake: Features a competitive tariff of ₹2.96 per unit, with all generated power supplied to the State of Bihar under a tender floated by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA). Strategic & Environmental Impact: Decarbonization: The project will reduce carbon emissions by roughly 82,250 tonnes annually, directly supporting India’s national target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Socio-Economic Benefits: Created approximately 15–20 direct and 5,100 indirect green jobs, stimulating local economic development in the Jamui district.
