Suzlon Energy Secures 105 MW Debut Order for Next-Gen S175 (5.0 MW) Turbine
Suzlon Energy Limited has secured a landmark 105 MW order from Sunsure Energy for the supply of its new S175 (5.0 MW) wind turbine. This deal marks the commercial debut of Suzlon's next-generation turbine and represents Sunsure’s third order with Suzlon in just 14 months, bringing their cumulative partnership to 400.8 MW located in Bijapur district, Karnataka.
Technological Milestone (S175 Turbine):
Record-Breaking Specs: India’s tallest and most powerful wind turbine, featuring a 175-meter rotor and a 160-meter hybrid lattice tower.
Market Expansion: Engineered to access stronger, more stable wind regimes at higher altitudes. This design unlocks previously unviable sites, significantly improving energy yields and project economics.
RTC Capabilities: Purpose-built for firm and dispatchable power, enabling seamless integration into hybrid and Round-The-Clock (RTC) renewable solutions.
Strategic Significance:
Commercial Validation: The order serves as a strong vote of confidence in Suzlon’s R&D and manufacturing capabilities, successfully transitioning their flagship 5 MW platform from development to commercial execution.
Deepening Client Relationships: Highlights the rapid scaling of Suzlon's partnership with Sunsure Energy, evolving from their maiden 2.1 MW projects to scaling on the 3 MW platform, and now pioneering the 5 MW S175.
C&I Market Leadership: Reinforces Suzlon's dominant position in the high-growth C&I renewable segment, driven by India's accelerated electrification and expanded manufacturing footprint.
Outlook:
This breakthrough order is expected to serve as a benchmark case study for effective energy generation and project economics in the Indian wind sector. It strongly positions Suzlon to capture a larger share of the premium, high-yield wind projects across the country.
