Varun Beverages Acquires Kenyan Beverage Business for USD 32 Million

Varun Beverages (VBL), via its subsidiary VBL Industries (Kenya), will acquire the dairy, juice, and packaged water business of Devyani Food Industries (Kenya) for USD 32 million (~₹305 crore) at an attractive 0.9x EV/Revenue. The arm's-length transaction is expected to close by August 1, 2026. Key Highlights: Strategic Assets: The acquisition includes a 52-acre, ISO-certified manufacturing facility in Nakuru, Kenya, providing VBL with immediate, ready-to-use infrastructure. Market Expansion: This brownfield deal deepens VBL’s footprint in East Africa and allows the company to rapidly leverage the existing distribution network to launch its core carbonated soft drinks (CSD) and energy drinks in the region. Analyst Outlook: Brokerages have reacted highly positively, applauding VBL's disciplined overseas M&A strategy. JPMorgan (Overweight, TP ₹565) and CLSA (Outperform, TP ₹654) note that the deal provides immediate operational scale in a key market, further bolstering VBL's international operations, which already contribute roughly 33% of the company's total revenue.
