The Hisar unit received the National Award for Best Energy Efficient Case Study and the National Award for Best Case Study on Low Carbon/Carbon Neutral Initiative. The award-winning initiatives included waste heat recovery systems, adoption of heater-less vaporisers, renewable energy integration, energy-efficient equipment upgrades, and green hydrogen applications. Over the last four years, the unit has successfully implemented 112 energy efficiency projects, resulting to a cumulative greenhouse gas emission reduction of 584,903 tCO₂e through renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.
