Nifty Index Technical Outlook 12 October 2026
Nifty Index witnessed a gap-up opening in the previous trading session, triggering a short-covering rally as bears were forced to unwind positions near the crucial support zone. However, the recovery remains unconfirmed, with the index trading below the key 22,600 pivot, keeping the near-term technical outlook cautious. Bulls must deliver a decisive breakout and closing above 22,600 to establish stronger upward momentum and extend the recovery towards higher resistance levels. Failure to reclaim this pivot could attract fresh selling pressure, indicating that the recent rebound may be corrective rather than a sustainable trend reversal. On the downside, 22,200 remains the crucial support that bulls must defend to preserve recovery prospects. A decisive breakdown below this level could allow bears to regain control, trigger fresh selling and resume the prevailing bearish momentum. As long as Nifty trades between 22,200 support and 22,600 resistance, the index is likely to experience strong sideways movement, characterised by volatile, zigzag price action and repeated intraday reversals. From a risk-reward perspective, the setup conditionally favours bulls, provided support remains intact. However, bullish conviction requires confirmation through a sustained breakout and closing above 22,600. Until then, traders should remain cautious, avoid chasing unconfirmed moves and closely monitor price behaviour around both critical levels to identify the next directional opportunity.
