Bajaj Auto's Revenue Jumped 65%. The Company Itself Says Don't Read Too Much Into It.
$BAJAJ-AUTO reported Q1 FY27 consolidated revenue up 65% YoY to ₹21,688.83 crore, with profit up 46% to ₹3,225.63 crore. Sounds like a blowout quarter. But the company's own filing includes an honest caveat worth noting. Bajaj Auto explicitly stated these numbers aren't comparable to last year, since it started consolidating a subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings, into group results this quarter after acquiring control of it in November 2025. So a big chunk of that 65% jump isn't organic growth. It's a new entity's revenue getting added for the first time. This is a real trap worth learning to spot. When a company changes what counts in its consolidated results, through an acquisition or new subsidiary, YoY growth becomes misleading unless the prior year gets restated on a like-for-like basis. Bajaj Auto didn't do that here, which is exactly why the number looks so dramatic. Credit to them for flagging it clearly instead of letting the inflated number generate quiet headlines. The takeaway. Whenever growth looks unusually large after any mention of an acquisition, check if the comparison is actually like-for-like. Adding a new business isn't the same story as selling more of the same products.
