recently released its Q1 FY27 sales numbers. Total sales: 1,82,574 units, up 46% from last year. That's a big jump.
Dig one level deeper and it gets interesting. Domestic sales grew 45%. EV sales more than doubled — up 112% — and June alone was their best-ever EV month, with 14,800 units sold.
But their luxury arm, JLR, actually went the other way. Wholesale volumes dropped 9.2% because of supply issues and older Jaguar models being phased out ahead of new launches.
So same company, same quarter — one part is booming, the other part is struggling. If you only looked at the "total sales" headline, you'd miss that completely.
That's the real lesson here: big companies are often several different businesses stitched together. A strong headline number can hide a weak segment underneath it, and a weak headline can hide a segment that's actually doing great. Always check what's driving the number, not just the number itself.
