TITAN
Was Just a Watch Company. Now It's Worth ₹3.6 Lakh Crore. Here's How.

Quick fact that might surprise you: Titan, yes, the watch brand — is now the second most valuable company in the entire Tata Group, right after TCS. Market cap: nearly ₹3.6 lakh crore. Revenue crossed ₹50,000 crore in FY25, and the company added another ₹25,000 crore on top of that in FY26 alone. How does a watch company get here? It didn't stay a watch company.

TITAN
quietly expanded way beyond watches over the years — into jewellery (Tanishq, Zoya, CaratLane), eyewear, fragrances, ethnic wear, even handbags, and pushed into global markets too. Most people still mentally file Titan under "watches," but watches are actually a small slice of the business today. Jewellery alone does the heavy lifting for revenue now. This is actually a really useful pattern to recognize as an investor. Companies that keep compounding for decades usually aren't the ones that found one great product and stopped there — they're the ones that used a trusted brand and existing customer relationships to keep entering new categories, one at a time, without losing focus. Titan didn't randomly diversify into everything; it stuck close to "things people buy to look good or feel good," and built out from there. The takeaway: when you're evaluating any company for the long term, it's worth asking — is this business still just doing the one thing it started with, or has it found a real way to keep expanding without losing the plot? That difference is often what separates a company that plateaus from one that keeps compounding for 20+ years.
