EXPORTS OF FMGC PRODUCTS OUTPACE DOMESTIC SALES

While smartphones have become a major export product from India, however FMCG products are not lacking behind. Daily consumer goods like biscuits, noodles, packaged gram flour, soaps and shampoos are also making roads into international markets. Top fast-moving consumer goods companies like

HINDUNILVR
,
ITC
,
MARICO
,
GODREJCP
,
DABUR
,
EMAMILTD
,
AWL
have reported faster growth in their export revenue compared to local sales in the past two fiscal years. While Dabur, Emami, and Marico's export revenues account for 20% of it's total sales, HUL's export revenues account for only 3% of it's total sales. Government initiatives on export-focussed programmes like production-linked incentive schemes (PLI) for the food processing industry and millet-based products are also helping boost export shipments. The government in December had selected 73 companies for benefits under the PLI scheme for marketing Indianbranded food products in global markets. Exports of other consumer goods from apparel, jewellery and consumer electronics to automobiles have also grown last fiscal year.
