GOVERNMENT APPROVES FOUR MULTI-TRACKING RAILWAY PROJECTS COSTING MORE THAT RS 11,000 CRORE

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved 4 multi-tracking projects covering 13 districts across the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. This project will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 574km. The total estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs 11,169 crore and the multi-tracking project is expected to be completed by the year 2028-29. These projects will provide seamless connectivity for movement of passengers, as well as goods like coal, cement, clinker, gypsum, fly ash, containers, agriculture commodities, and petroleum products. Moreover, it will enhance connectivity to approximately 2,309 villages which are having a population of about 43.60 lakh. The projects are planned on PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan with focus on enhancing multi-modal connectivity and logistic efficiency through integrated planning and stakeholder consultations.
