, a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has signed a strategic agreement with , India’s largest cement producer, to transport bulk cement using specialized tank containers—a first-of-its-kind large-scale initiative in India’s cement logistics sector. This partnership aims to shift bulk cement movement from road to rail, aligning with India’s broader goal of promoting sustainable and efficient freight transport. Under the agreement, will deploy dedicated rakes for cement transportation along key rail corridors, enabling a more predictable, lower-emission, and cost-efficient logistics network. This initiative could serve as a template for similar green logistics partnerships across other sectors such as steel, fertilizers, and petroleum, as India works toward decarbonising its freight ecosystem.
