INDIA'S EMS SECTOR SEEKS DUTY CUT IN UNION BUDGET 2026–27
India's electronics manufacturing sector (EMS) has urged the government to reduce customs duties on imports of components, wearables, display assemblies and capital goods that are being used in the manufacture of mobile phones, warning that existing anomalies are inflating costs and weakening India’s competitiveness as a global electronics hub.
This proposal would reduce cost distortions, improve ease of doing business and strengthen India’s position as a competitive global manufacturing base amid rising geopolitical and supply-chain risks. If the proposal is accepted by the government, it would benefit companies like DIXON , KAYNES , SYRMA , and PGEL .
