Indian carmaker

MARUTI
sold 2,19,220 vehicles in August 2026 as the sales were up from 1,80,683 units during the same month last year. The company crossed 10 lakh units in cumulative sales within the first five months of FY2027 as total sales between April and August 2026 reached 11,43,365 units as against 8,89,070 units in the corresponding period last year. The domestic passenger car sales stood at 1,76,971 units in August as compared to 1,31,278 units in August 2025. The August numbers add to a commendable start to the financial year while the domestic car business accounts for the bulk of the increase. The company is now planning to invest Rs 77,500 crores between FY27 and FY31 as it prepares for an anticipated increase in India’s passenger vehicle demand. The planned spending will cover manufacturing capacity, new products, research and development, plant upkeep, sales infrastructure, logistics and initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
