TWO PSU STOCKS SET TO WIN BIG FROM INDIA'S NUCLEAR PUSH

In a positive long-term policy push for nuclear power, the government has opened doors to private participation in this sector as it plans to increase nuclear capacity from 8GW to 22.8GW by the year 2032. Two PSUs that stand to benefit from this push are:

NTPC
- the company is primarily involved in generation and sale of bulk power to state power utilities. Currently it is developing it's nuclear portfolio through a dedicated subsidiary and a joint venture. Moreover, it is exploring ways to convert some coal-based plants into SMR-based nuclear facilities. The company is also exploring partnerships with international nuclear companies, including a partnership with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for indigenous SMR development.
BHEL
- this is an integrated equipment manufacturer engaged in design, engineering, manufacture, erection, testing, commissioning and servicing of a wide range of products and services for the power transmission sector. Currently, the company is India’s only indigenous supplier of nuclear turbine-generator sets. It supports all three phases of the nuclear programme and manufactures critical equipment required for nuclear power plants.
