BHEL Falls Ahead of Today’s Q2 Results, Profit Seen Up 78%

BHEL
BHEL shares slipped nearly 2% to around Rs 431 on Tuesday, pulling back from a 52-week high of Rs 455.95 hit just a week earlier, as investors turned cautious ahead of the state-run engineering giant’s board meeting today to approve July-September results. BHEL has been one of this year’s standout PSU stories, up over 48% year to date and nearly 84% over twelve months, riding India’s power capex cycle and a re-rating of defence and capital goods names. A 78% profit jump would mark genuine acceleration rather than a one-off beat, but the pullback into results suggests some investors are booking gains after the sharp run-up, wary that strong numbers may already be priced in. Weak order inflows, if confirmed, could also raise questions about the pipeline ahead. The stock has ranged between Rs 229.54 and Rs 455.95 over the past 52 weeks, with a market cap of around Rs 1.53 lakh crore, still well above where it started the year despite today’s dip. With results due today, the market’s real test will be whether execution momentum and margins can keep pace with the stock’s steep rally.
