HCLTech reports its September quarter results today, walking in with the stock up over 3% on Friday to Rs 1,216.70, a bounce that still leaves it well below its 52-week high of Rs 1,780.10 touched earlier this year, in a year unusually choppy even by IT services standards.
Today's print follows TCS's September quarter results earlier this month, which beat expectations and gave the battered IT pack a reason for optimism after a brutal 2026 marked by US client budget cuts, steep visa cost increases and worries that AI could shrink the hours-based billing model the industry runs on. HCLTech carries its own watch points: the health of its products and platforms business, deal signings in a cautious spending environment, and margin trends as it balances AI-led delivery investments against cost pressure.
Unlike pure services players, HCLTech's mix of services, software products and infra management means its results read as a slightly different signal, how much growth comes from steadier annuity-like software revenue versus cyclical services demand. A beat here, following TCS's stronger print, would add to the case that the sector's worst sentiment is behind it, while a miss would suggest TCS's results were company-specific rather than an industry turning point.
The stock has ranged between Rs 1,030 and Rs 1,780.10 over the past 52 weeks, with a market cap of around Rs 3.30 lakh crore. With the stock already down sharply for the year, today's results and earnings call commentary carry an outsized ability to swing sentiment either way.
