IRB Infra Toll Collections Rise 24% in September

IRB
IRB Infrastructure Developers shares closed at Rs 17.88 on Monday, up over 2%, after it reported a 24% jump in September toll collections, a reminder that steady traffic growth has kept this annuity-like business humming even as the stock trades near its yearly low. Toll revenue across the company’s 24 highway projects came in at Rs 772.5 crore for September, up from Rs 622.3 crore a year earlier. Mumbai-Pune Expressway remained the largest contributor at Rs 162.1 crore, while Ahmedabad-Vadodara and Hyderabad’s Outer Ring Road also posted double digit gains. Part of the jump came from new projects, including Harihara, Chandibhadra and Meerut Budaun, which only began collecting tolls this year and so had no year-ago comparison. Toll revenue is one of the closest things infrastructure investors get to a visible, recurring cash flow, reflecting actual traffic rather than accounting estimates, making monthly updates a closely tracked health check on economic activity and project execution. A chunk of this growth coming from brand new corridors shows the expansion pipeline is starting to contribute, not just existing roads seeing more traffic, which matters for how durable this pace is likely to be. The stock has ranged between Rs 16.75 and Rs 23.94 over the past 52 weeks, with a market cap of around Rs 21,149 crore, trading closer to its low than its high. With toll collections showing consistent growth, the gap between operational momentum and where the stock trades is the key tension for investors here.
