Trent Hits Upper Circuit on Strong Q2 Revenue Bea

TRENT
Trent shares are locked near their 10% upper circuit in Tuesday's trade, jumping about 12.8% to around Rs 2,909, after the Tata Group retailer's September quarter revenue beat street estimates and reignited confidence in its Zudio and Westside growth story. What Happened: The company reported Q2FY27 revenue of Rs 5,788 crore, up 13% year-on-year from Rs 4,724 crore in the same quarter last year, a pace ahead of what analysts had pencilled in. The rally comes after a stretch where Trent's stock had cooled off from its highs as same-store sales growth moderated and investors questioned whether the breakneck expansion pace could hold. Today's numbers appear to have answered at least part of that concern. Why the Street Cares: Trent runs three fast-growing formats, the value fashion chain Zudio, department store Westside, and its newer beauty and grocery bets, and the market has rewarded the stock richly over the past few years on the strength of aggressive store additions. Any slowdown in that growth engine tends to hit the stock hard, which is exactly why a double-digit revenue beat is being cheered so sharply today. Nifty's broader consumption and retail pack also traded firm through the session, giving the move extra tailwind. Where It Stands: The stock has swung between Rs 2,183.68 and Rs 3,399.70 over the past 52 weeks, and Trent now carries a market capitalisation of roughly Rs 1.51 lakh crore. Whether today's bounce holds will likely depend on commentary around store expansion plans and margin trends when the full results and management call details come through.
