Adani Power to Supply 1,500 MW Electricity to Uttar Pradesh – Key Highlights

Adani Power will supply 1,500 MW of electricity to Uttar Pradesh from a new ultra-supercritical thermal power plant. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the project, and Adani Power has won the bid at a competitive tariff of ₹5.383 per unit. Project Size: 2×800 MW (1,500 MW net) - Investment: USD 2 billion - Model: DBFOO – Design, Build, Finance, Own & Operate - Start of Supply: By FY30 - Power Purchase: Long-term agreement with UPPCL The project is expected to generate 8,000–9,000 jobs during construction and around 2,000 once operational. UP’s power demand is projected to rise by 11,000 MW by 2033–34 due to rapid industrial growth and urbanisation. This project supports the state’s future energy needs. This is Adani Power’s second major win recently, after securing a 6,600 MW order (1,600 MW thermal + 5,000 MW solar) from Maharashtra in 2024. Adani Power currently operates 17,510 MW of thermal capacity across 11 plants and a 40 MW solar plant in Gujarat. Summary: Adani Power will invest USD 2 billion to build a modern thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh, supplying 1,500 MW electricity by FY30 under a long-term deal—helping meet the state’s rising energy demand while creating thousands of jobs.
