IGL Forms 50:50 JV to Enter Compressed Bio Gas & Biofuel Projects – Shares in Focus
Indraprastha Gas (IGL) has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Hindustan Waste Treatment (HWT) to set up compressed bio gas (CBG) / biofuel projects, expanding its presence in clean and renewable energy. Both partners will invest equally, and the JV board will have four directors, with two nominees from each company, ensuring balanced control. This move aligns with IGL’s strategy to diversify beyond city gas distribution into green fuel solutions. Earlier in November, IGL had also formed a similar 50:50 JV with CEID Consultants & Engineering for CBG projects, highlighting a clear push toward the bioenergy segment. In the last trading session, the stock closed 1.71% higher at ₹196. The 52-week high is ₹229.20 and low is ₹172.00. Currently, the stock is about 15% below its high and around 13% above its low. With a market capitalisation of about ₹27,139 crore, these JVs strengthen IGL’s long-term growth outlook in sustainable energy.
