Infosys: Buyback Boost & Promoter Selling — Investor Takeaways

Infosys has finished its share buyback, and 10 crore shares are now extinguished. These shares are permanently removed from the market, reducing total supply — which can be positive for remaining shareholders. At the same time, Shreyas Shibulal (son of co-founder SD Shibulal) sold 19.92 lakh shares worth ₹317 crore, and Bhairavi Shibulal sold 5.42 lakh shares worth ₹86.21 crore. What does this mean for us, investors? • Promoter selling doesn’t always mean trouble. People sell shares for many personal reasons — investments, diversification, or financial planning. • Buybacks usually signal confidence from the company and often support the stock price. • Reduced share count = higher earnings per share (EPS) over time, which can be good for shareholders. Note: Don’t panic just because promoters sell. Look at the bigger picture — fundamentals, buybacks, growth, and long-term trends.
