Live Update of Indian Stock Market - 12 March, 2026
Under the surface, today’s market is clearly split. Nifty is hovering near 23,720, down about 0.65%, with Bank Nifty seeing sharper pressure while midcaps are relatively more stable. Breadth still leans negative, showing broader caution across the market. Energy-linked pockets are the clear outliers. Oil & Gas, CPSE and PSE stocks are attracting steady buying interest, and gas/induction related names are seeing strong momentum as traders react to the crude spike and geopolitical tension. Meanwhile consumption-facing sectors: Auto, logistics, private banks and FMCG, are carrying most of the pressure. For now, 23,650 is the key intraday level the market is trying to defend. A break below could invite further weakness.
