Powering India’s Future: How Resonia, Sterlite & Serentica Are Transforming Energy Infrastructure.

India’s power needs are growing fast — especially with more factories, offices, and data centres coming up. But there’s a gap: renewable power is ready quickly, while transmission lines take much longer to build. Here’s what’s happening: Why Transmission Is a Bottleneck • Solar/wind power plants take ~18-20 months to build. • But transmission lines take 4–6 years due to: - Land/right-of-way issues - Many approval delays - Less use of machines (more manual labor) The Big Move: Company Split Vedanta Group split Sterlite Power into two parts: 1. Resonia Ltd → Focuses on building transmission networks 2. Sterlite Electric → Makes cables, wires & T&D equipment Resonia’s Ambition: • Controls ~20% of India’s new transmission work • Manages ₹30,000 Cr in assets (running + under construction) • Will invest ₹1 lakh Cr by FY32 to expand across India • Won’t go abroad — India is already the world’s largest greenfield transmission market Sterlite Electric’s Growth • FY26 turnover target: ₹6,500 Cr • Plans to double that in 3–4 years • Will expand into high-end cables like HVDC & submarine cables • Focus on exports to Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Middle East (not US for now) Serentica Renewables (Green Energy Arm) • Focuses on supplying power to industries (C&I segment) • Plans to grow capacity from 4,000 MW now → 13,000 MW by 2030 • Has $650M+ backing from global investor KKR Bottom Line: India’s private players are gearing up to meet the country’s fast-growing power needs — not just in generation, but also in solving the transmission challenge. With smart strategies and big investments, companies like Resonia, Sterlite Electric, and Serentica are leading the charge.
