Pre Market & Global cues review - 16 March, 2026
Global cues are cautiously positive this morning. US futures are trading in green with S&P +0.4%, Nasdaq +0.44%, Dow +0.3%, suggesting some risk appetite returning after last week’s volatility. However, the macro backdrop remains sensitive. Brent crude continues to hover near $105, while the Dollar Index holds above 100, keeping global liquidity conditions tight. Across Asia the picture is mixed. Japan and Korea are under pressure while Hong Kong and Taiwan are marginally positive, indicating a cautious start across regional markets. Gift Nifty indicates a mildly positive opening (+0.25%), pointing toward a tentative recovery attempt after Friday’s sharp sell-off. The key domestic trigger today will be India’s WPI inflation data, due around midday, which could influence expectations around input cost pressures and sectoral margins. For now the market appears to be attempting stabilization, but oil prices and geopolitical headlines remain the dominant variables.
