Pre Market Report & Global Cues | 04 August
Global markets are giving mixed signals today. US markets had a strong session overnight. Nasdaq gained more than 2%, led by technology stocks, while the Dow and S&P 500 also closed over 1% higher. Asian markets aren't following the same trend. 🟢 Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore are trading higher. 🔴 Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong are in the red. Because of this, Gift Nifty is indicating around a 120-point gap-down, suggesting some profit booking after yesterday's rally. Brent crude has moved up slightly to around $84.6, while the rupee is trading near 95.3 against the US dollar. A few stocks to watch today: ✧ LIC – Government's OFS opens today. ✧ Paytm – In focus after a ₹2,002 crore block deal. ✧ IEX – May remain under pressure after the Supreme Court allowed CERC to move ahead with market coupling. ✧ DLF and Torrent Power – In focus after their Q1 results. Among ADRs, Axis Bank gained nearly 3% and Wipro rose over 3.5%, which could keep banking and IT stocks active. There are no major domestic events today. The market will be waiting for the RBI policy decision and Services PMI tomorrow. Today's View: After yesterday's strong move, some profit booking wouldn't be surprising. But with US markets staying positive and crude still below recent highs, the overall setup remains supportive. The key level to watch will be whether Nifty can hold above 24,700 if selling comes in during the day.
